Exploring the North Shore

Clear blue skies and a hard-earned day off prompted a day trip to the North Shore of Vancouver to explore two of the many parks on offer.

The first stop was Lighthouse Park, and armed with lollies and ginger ale we caught the 250 bus across the Lion's Gate Bridge to North Vancouver. The bus winds along Marine Drive, offering glimpses of the inlet between old waterfront homes and soaring pines.

It is a short walk from the bus stop to the park entrance, and we are immediately greeted by a graduated trail into the shaded forest. It is hot work but the trail to the lighthouse lookout is short and the trees shade the pathways with cool humidity.
